My Journey & Passion

Food as the Heartbeat of Life

Food has always been the heartbeat of my life. I left a job I loved at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to chase my true passion: cooking. Although my position offered financial security and a successful career in business—built after earning a degree in business management and real estate—nothing could compare to the joy of creating delicious meals. As a child, I was captivated by my mother, a gourmet cook, whose kitchen was a realm of transformation, turning simple ingredients into unforgettable culinary experiences.

Twenty years ago, I made a bold decision to trade my corporate attire for a chef’s jacket. I enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America for comprehensive professional chef training, where I gained the foundation necessary to build a food business. My culinary education was further enriched by the chefs I worked alongside in renowned restaurants across Europe and the talented culinary artists I met during my world travels, who generously shared their culinary secrets. My journey eventually took me to the high seas, where I served as an executive chef on a mega yacht, crafting exquisite meals for high profile guests while mastering precision and adaptability.

Culinary Excellence & Teaching

Cannes, Michelin Accreditation & New Beginnings

In Cannes, I founded La Serviette Blanche, where I taught cooking classes, curated culinary experiences, and opened a private dining restaurant. Our cooking classes earned several awards of excellence, and in 2014, the restaurant was honored with a prestigious Michelin accreditation, a testament to our unwavering commitment to exceptional food and service. Later, I established Born to Taste Amsterdam as a subsidiary of La Serviette Blanche, continuing to share my love for teaching and empowering others in the kitchen.

However, a serious shoulder injury forced me to step back from the physical demands of being a chef. At the same time, I was diagnosed with diabetes, which transformed my relationship with food. This personal experience inspired me to create a special division dedicated to diabetes-friendly cooking. As a diabetes patient myself, I’ve learned to adapt beloved recipes into guilt-free delights that do not sacrifice flavor. My mission is to empower others living with diabetes to enjoy delicious meals while maintaining their health.
